Scenario: All the data for each record in the CSV file appears in column A as shown in the image below.
If you try to upload a file in this format, you will receive an error as shown in the image below.
Solution: If you are not seeing your original columns, you just need to modify your Excel settings by following these simple steps.
Step 1: In your Excel CSV file, select all data in column ‘A’ by highlighting it.
Step 2: Select the ‘Data’ tab.
Step 3: Select the ‘Text to Columns’ option.
Step 4: Select ‘Delimited’.
Step 5: Click ‘Next’.
Step 6:
Scenario 1: Select the ‘Tab’ and ‘Space’ tags if these are not already selected.
Scenario 2: Select the ‘Tab’ and and 'Semicolon' if the file is using semicolons.
Ensure the data looks correct in the ‘Data preview’ panel, then click ‘Finish’.
Step 7: Excel will separate the data into separate columns. Once you save the changes, your file will be ready to be uploaded to Cambridge One.
Your Excel file format should appear as shown in the image below.
